"Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it." - Dennis Kimbro
Our brains are like computers. We're all programmed by our past experiences. These experiences cause us to automatically react in certain ways. If we had a strong emotional reaction to the word "fat" as a child, we are highly likely to be triggered by "fat" as an adult.
Without a consistent, prolonged, and conscious effort, it becomes difficult for us to control our initial emotional reactions. Our brain receives a signal that releases hormones and creates a physical response in our bodies. In that instant moment, we can develop our strength of CHOICE.
We can CHOOSE to command our emotion and settle our mind just as fast as our body initially reacted. The beautiful thing is that over time, this WILL retrain our minds to respond differently to triggers and this new response will become second nature.
This reflection is a reminder that we have the power to change our entire world, if only we CHOOSE to do so.
This week, we challenge you to join us in commanding our emotions. As soon as we feel a sensation arise in our physical bodies, let's stop and reflect on what triggered it and why.
Remember to write this reflection down somewhere and allow our amazing products to create a meditative space for this daily reflection.
