"You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing everything with logic; true power is restraint. If words control you that means everyone else can control you, breathe and allow things to pass." - Warren Buffett
This week's reflection is a mouthful but oh so powerful.
When we react emotionally to everything in our lives, we slowly lose control over ourselves and the direction of our attention.
Emotions come and go with the shifting winds unless we become grounded in who we are and what moves us. If the slightest criticism can fire us up, then whoever speaks those words has complete control over us.
If we're all in a tizzy, we're less likely to stay focused, be truly present in the moment, process the conversation with a discerning eye or master our tongue while we react.
This week, let's practice the "pause". Before responding to what someone says (good or bad), take just one full breath to gather your thoughts, calm your emotions and remember this week's reflection.
Remember to write this reflection down somewhere and allow our amazing products to create a meditative space for this daily reflection.
