Just as Autumn brings forth Mother Earths’ golden tones, Turmeric, India’s famous golden spice, offers us amazing benefits. Health benefits aside, Turmeric soothes and warms the soul. A warm mug of Golden milk is one of the best treats to cuddle up with at the end of a chilly Autumn day.

The earthy, bitter taste of Turmeric can be found in several dishes and drinks. Keep reading for two tasty and beneficial drinks, that are equally delicious as they are comforting.

Turmeric is a staple, mildly - flavored ingredient, popular in Indian and Middle Eastern meals. Curry is one of the most common dishes enjoyed by many that include turmeric. However, Golden milk and Turmeric shots have become quite popular over the years, as well. There is just something about the combination of Turmeric, Clove, and Cinnamon with a dash of black pepper, that really warms the soul. It has been said that Black pepper encourages the absorption of curcumin, the active component in Turmeric.

Taste-wise, Golden Milk is similar to the delicious taste of Chai Tea only spicier. Given that Turmeric is a spice, it adds a certain kick. It can be quite bitter, so many like to counteract that bitterness by adding vanilla, ginger, and honey.

    Golden Milk Tea Latte Ingredients:

    2 cups of almond milk

    1 tsp of ground turmeric

    ½ tsp of cinnamon

    ½ tsp of ground ginger

    Pinch of black pepper

    Honey (optional)

    Golden Milk Directions

    1. In a small saucepan, simmer the almond milk, 1 tsp of honey, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon stick, and black pepper. Stir over low heat until combined.

    2.  Reduce heat even more for 10 minutes. Do not allow it to boil!

    3. Carefully remove it from the heat.

    4.  Remove the cinnamon stick. Strain any other spices you added with a fine mesh strainer and return to the pot.

    5. Stir in vanilla and add the remaining honey, if preferred.

    6. Enjoy!

We encourage you to explore different ingredients to make this soothing tea your own. This recipe is foolproof. Try swapping almond milk for coconut milk. Coconut encourages Turmeric absorption, as well as black pepper. Another implementation to the tasty tea is to add mint. For a bonus, givefrothing your end result a try! It will leave you with a more creamy latte, rather than a tea.
