Love never gets lost, it's only kept. - African proverb
Love is fragile. Like a small crack in a vase can prevent the holding of water, a small pain can hold back the act of love towards another.
When harsh words or actions gets tossed around in an ego battle between two lovers, some roll off and some stick like thorns. If left unaddressed, those thorns create sore spots; eventually leading to full on withdrawal.
This week's proverb reminds us of the power of forgiveness.
In marriage, communicating feelings, fears and expectations is essential. We must brave our own ego to discuss and forgive. We must take the vast amount of time and effort required to tend to our relationships with the highest level of priority.
Life's too short and love is too hard to find to hold back love once we find a person we are willing to give our hearts to. To miss out on the immense growth potential and spiritual reward of two people learning to become one is a profound misfortune.
"'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." - Alfred Tennyson
This week, let's work to find ways to forgive our partners for past grievances and find new ways to show them love.
