The Anu, the earliest known humans, are Black Africans tracing back to 30,000-50,000 BCE. Their knowledge heavily influenced the Kemetic people from the Nile Valley (5500 BCE-30 BCE), in areas like community order, agriculture, astronomy, and mathematics. Both cultures shared the concept of Nefertem, a young God born from a lotus.
In both Anu and Kemetic theurgy, principles of nature or cosmic concepts are symbolized by human-like divine figures to make the knowledge more relatable and understandable.
It's important to note that these ancient deities represent a singular Spirit embodied in various natural principles, not polytheism. So when we speak of Nefertem, we aren't "praising him as a God" but rather "honoring the principle that he represents".
Nefertem, as the firstborn out of those primordial waters, voiced the creation words that established order and form on Earth.
He represents both the innocence of a child and the potential for humans to attain enlightenment, devoid of ego and worldly desires.
He represents humans in our most basic state, without knowledge or experience and our the soul's initiation into life.
He symbolizes rebirth, focusing not on literal reincarnation, but on the shedding of one's ego and past mistakes, transitioning from darkness to light with wisdom and purpose.
Nefertem's principle emphasizes taming the ego so it doesn't dominate you. It's about living intentionally, mindfully and within balance, overcoming ego for wisdom to flourish.
It's about transcending the chaos of the inner monolog, seeking to quiet the mind (ego) in order to tap into the knowledge of the Universe.
Wisdom and ego are inversely proportional; the more ego, the less wisdom one can attain. To gain true wisdom, we must let go of preconceived knowledge, freeing oneself from negative ego traits like greed, envy, hate, lust, etc...
This leads to inner peace and self-sufficiency, recognizing the value of simply being alive - the distillation of the human experience.
